Following appearances this year in Man on a Ledge , Casa de mi Padre and What to Expect When You're Expecting , Genesis Rodriguez has joined the cast of Universal Pictures' Identity Thief . Deadline has the news, saying that she'll join Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy, Amanda Peet, John Cho, Clark Duke, Maggie Elizabeth Jones, Mary-Charles Jones and Jon Favreau in the Seth Gordon film.
The film features Bateman's character as the victim of an identity theft by McCarthy's character. Originally written for a male character on the criminal end of things, the script was reportedly rewritten specifically for McCarthy. Steve Conrad ( The Weather Man , The Pursuit of Happyness ) wrote the first draft with subsequent rewrites by Craig Mazin ( The Hangover Part II ).
