Walt Disney Pictures has announced that its live-action Sleeping Beauty re-telling, Maleficent , will hit theaters on March 14, 2014.
Angelina Jolie is set to star with Robert Stromberg, who previously served as a production designer on Avatar , Alice in Wonderland and Disney's upcoming, Oz the Great and Powerful , making his directing debut.
The live-action film explores the origins of the evil fairy Maleficent and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney�s animated classic Sleeping Beauty . Linda Woolverton ( Beauty and the Beast , The Lion King , and Alice in Wonderland ). Maleficent is produced by Joe Roth (Disney�s Alice in Wonderland and Oz the Great and Powerful ).
